Grand Harbour and the Three Cities
This fantastic view of Fort St Angelo can be enjoyed from the Upper Barraca Gardens. Fort St Angelo may date back to Roman times however it was made notorious by the Knights of Malta as it was the seat of the Grand Master. The fort withstood the Great Siege of Malta of 1565 when the Maltese overpowered the Turks.
Today some parts of the fort are leased to the Order of the Knights of St John. Other parts are used as a maritime museum and most recently commercial development has taken place along the quayside.
